Calabasas Candy Company

We here at Texas Kitchen got to try out a couple of the great tasting candies available from Calabasas Candy Company.

First up was:

1/2 lb. Uncut Dark Chocolate Caramel

Dark chocolate flavor comes through on this delightfully sticky and chewy candy. Would be perfect with fresh fruit like apples.

This is our same delicious dark chocolate caramel, but just more of it! You will get two 1/4 lb. uncut bars for a total of 1/2 lb. of dark chocolate caramel. Each bar is first wrapped in clear cello wrap, then in white parchment paper and tied at the ends with sating ribbon.

Madagascar Vanilla Marshmallows

Next was:

Peppermint flavored Marshmallows. They are not even available on the site yet but I tell you they have amazing peppermint flavor. These would make really good holiday smores.They are light and fluffy. Very creamy and delicious.

Miracle Noodles

We here at Texas Kitchen got to try out Miracle Noodles. These are the highly popular calorie free noodles you have seen on Rachel Ray, in Men's Health and Shape magazine.

My family loves noodles, but isn't real happy about the calories that come along with them. Miracle Noodles are a great calorie free substitute for regular noodles. These noodles are full of fiber and come in several varieties.

Miracle Noodles come in various shapes, rice, angel hair, fettuccine and all these other great options:

Miracle Noodles take on the flavor of whatever sauce you add to them. We followed the very simple instructions for preparation. Remember, Miracle Noodles are already cooked so you just rinse em off and warm em up. They store on the shelf and need no refrigeration. Mine were delivered quite quickly when ordered.

They have the texture of rice noodles that you get with prepackaged Asian meal kits. The packages come in perfect portion sizes and have all kinds of health benefits.

Hot or Cold Sesame Noodles

Prep Time: 10 minutes Total Time: 15 minutes only!

Ingredients

1-2 7oz bags of Miracle Noodle Angel Hair
1 tablespoon Braggs Liquid Aminos (Low Sodium Soy Sauce can be used)
1 tablespoons raw unsalted peanut butter
2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
1/2 tablespoon dark sesame oil
2 cups shredded white cabbage
1 cup bean sprouts
3 scallions, chopped
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
1 teaspoon Sriracha hot sauce(optional)

Method

Open bag of Miracle Noodles into a colander draining the water that the noodles are packed in. Boil for one minute, drain and pat dry with a paper towel or small hand towel.
In the bottom of a large bowl, whisk together Bragg's, peanut butter, vinegar, sesame oil, and hot sauce(optional). Add noodles and veggies and toss to combine the noodles and coat them evenly with sauce. Sprinkle scallions and sesame seeds throughout the salad and serve.
Or you can heat the sauce for a couple of minutes in a sauce pan, then add noodles and serve hot!

Ok, now I'm hungry. We decided to make Just Like Grandma used to Make Cupcakes p.110
with Peanut Butter Butter Cream Frosting p. 282 I love that each recipe tells you the nutritional info per serving. Loving this cookbook. This is my kind of Vegan.

The Cupcakes are delicious and moist. I have to give extreme props for thefosting though. This is the absolute best tasting frosting I have ever had, and so easy to make.

Wildly Affordable Organic

I got to review "Wildly Affordable Organic: Eat Fabulous Food, Get Healthy, and Save the Planet All on $5 a Day or Less" by Linda Watson. This is a really awesome book.

I love that there are seasonal menus with shopping lists included right in the book. They include prices for totally organic products as as well as the thrifty alternative when you need to save money.

These lists are so thorough that they included everything down to the spices and the % you should have left of each at the end of the month if you use the menu plans.

There is quite a large portion of the book devoted to simple, delicious recipes that will satisfy your tummy without breaking the bank.

Eggs and Potatoes
Vegetables and Side Dishes
Deserts

Many of the recipes are vegan for those who desire a meatless diet.

We tried the Lentil Stew with Spring Onion from page 145. It was super easy to prepare and tasted pretty darn good. This is an extremely filling recipe that will stretch your food dollar quite a ways.

Renaissance Costume Discounters Review

If y'all are looking for that perfect Halloween costume , a Renaissance costume, or something completely different, have I got the place for you.

Costume Discounters let me pick out a costume from their amazing site for review. This turned out to be quite fun. First we had to decide who was going to get the costume. I won because I write the reviews. Next I looked and looked through the enormous selection of costumes available. They have so many choices. Wow.

I finally came to the conclusion that I was finally going to get that Renaissance costume I have wanted for years. Makes the Renaissance Festival so much more fun.

I love my new costume. It arrived very quickly and in perfect condition. The packaging was done so well. There were no wrinkles in the costume when it came out of the bag. I like that. The fabric is much better quality than I was expecting. It is sown well. I can't believe this was less than $35. I will never shop for costumes in retail stores again. Costume Discounters is WAY better.

This is going to look amazing in our new house. We are moving close to the beach and I want to decorate the house with a classy coastal style. This awesome print helps me make our new house a home.
