Poppy's Naturally Clean

Poppy's Naturally Clean sent me a bottle of their All Purpose Cleaning Powder for review. This  great smelling natural cleaner works really well. I tested it out on the kitchen sink and was very pleased with the results. Where I come from we have hard water so you get the occasional lime deposits on the faucets. These obviously need cleaning. Normally I have used a harsh chemical cleaner that I had to wear gloves to use. With Poppy's All Purpose Cleaning Powder I was able to lose the gloves. This gently abrasive cleaner did a great job on my sink and faucet and did not bother my sensitive skin at all.

All Purpose Cleaning Powder

Our all-purpose cleaning powder contains only natural ingredients and is toxin free. It is free of additives, fragrances, stabilizers, and preservative. With it’s gentle abrasion, it works well on surfaces such as counter tops, cabinets, tiles, walls, appliances, sinks, tubs, outdoor furniture, trash cans, and just about anything else you can think of. Replace your chemical filled cleaning powders with our all-natural version. Peppermint scent. *Do not use on marble or granite.

The Jewish Vegetarian Year Cookbook

When I received "The Jewish Vegetarian Year Cookbook" from Micah Publications I was a little excited. I have always wanted to try making Jewish food. Like most people, I didn't have a clue where to start. I love that "The Jewish Vegetarian Year Cookbook" has separated the Jewish Holidays and different menu plans for each event. This makes it great if you are Jewish or just want to immerse yourself in another culture for awhile.
THE JEWISH VEGETARIAN YEAR COOKBOOK
by Roberta Kalechofsky and Rosa Rasiel
illustrations    pbk.    216 pgs

Description

Joyful and practical, combines Jewish holiday traditions with more than 170 innovative, delicious, vegan recipes, notes about each major holiday, prayers, menu suggestions, and a Tu B'Shevat haggadah.
Advice about where to find vegetarian pareve products, how to make tofu delicious, how to store and cook beans and grains, useful addresses and bibliography.

As I paged through "The Jewish Vegetarian Year Cookbook" I was amazed at the variety of foods covered in therecipes. After a bit of searching, I decided on "Applesauce Cake" on page 35.

First off let me tell you that just getting the ingredients together for this one will make you hungry. All the spices blend into an aromatic heavenly scent. Once the ingredients were mixed the kid in me had to try a bit of the batter. This is ok because this is a vegetarian cake so no worries about ingesting raw eggs.. Anyhow the batter is really really good.
They got into it before I could get a pic
The hour wait while the cake bakes gets harder by the minute because the smell is wonderful. Once cooled enough to eat (ahhmm almost cool enough) we dug right in. This cake is ultra moist and tastes delicious. The spices really come through. Can't wait to try the next recipe.

Ready to buy? you can head over to Micah Publications and get yourself or a friend a copy of

"Legends In The Kitchen"

I got to try out a great cookbook from Five Star Publications called "Legends In The Kitchen". This is a fantastic collection of recipes from some of Hollywood's talented entertainers. They are not only talented on screen but also in the kitchen.

"Rockford's Refritos"
As you page through "Legends In The Kitchen" you will see recipes from celebrity notables such as Betty White, Dick Clark, John Hart. Debbie Reynolds, Ruth Buzzi, Burt Reynolds, Stefanie Powers and many many more.

I tried out a side dish from James Garner entitled "Rockford's Refritos" This is an ultra simple and amazingly delicious side that will go with more than just Mexican foods. I thoroughly enjoyed the flavors and the texture of this one. Just check out the pic. I know it's making you hungry. I think I will finish up this review and go try another recipe.

Here is the description from their website:
Welcome to Legends in the Kitchen!

Legends in the Kitchen is chock full of delicious, unique recipes that make it possible for chefs and novice cooks alike to impress friends and family with the same dishes celebrities prepare for their guests.

Imagine the conversation around the table when diners discover they are noshing on the Beef Stew with Walnuts that Betty Ford makes for former President Gerald Ford, Victoria Principal's Jade Empress Chicken, Dick Clark's Cajun Corn Chowder or other specialties from Debbie Reynolds, Stefanie Powers, Beau Bridges, Betty White, Ruth Buzzie, Andy Williams, Larry Hagman and many others.

In addition to being an ideal gift and a must-have for serious cookbook collectors, a portion of the book's sales supports the Motion Picture & Television Fund.
